The Alzheimer’s Society is the leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their family and carers. Over Christmas more than 700,000 people in the UK will be trying to cope with the effects of Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. So will their families and friends. Multiple Sclerosis is the most common disabling neurological disorder affecting young adults. Around 85,000 people in the UK have MS, and 50 more are diagnosed every week. The MS Society is the UK’s largest charity dedicated to supporting everyone whose life is touched by MS. The society’s role is to ensure people affected by MS receive the care and support they need in their everyday lives, whilst funding vital research to hopefully one day bring about a cure. The society and its network of 350 branches rely almost entirely on the generosity of the general public. | We secure and uphold the rights of disadvantaged older people in the UK and around the world. Working with them, we research their needs, campaign for changes in policy, and provide services to alleviate hardship today and prevent deprivation tomorrow. | BBC Children in Need is a charitable organisation that raises funds to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. The charity employs no professional findraisers but relies upon generosity of the general public and corporate partners to raise this money.
